One of the greatest challenges in global politics today is the dangerous
tension that has built up between the United States and the world's Muslim states and
communities. This deepening divide is a critical impediment to cooperation on a breadth of
vital issues, ranging from dealing with terrorism and radicalism to supporting human
development and freedom.
The U.S.-Islamic World Forum is a global leaders’ conference hosted by the Brookings
Project on U.S. Policy towards the Islamic World, housed within the Saban Center for
Middle East Policy. This annual dialogue, made possible by the vision and support of
Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and the Government of the State of Qatar, has become the
premiere convening body for American and Muslim world leaders in the fields of politics,
business, media, academia, science, arts, and civil society.
The 2006 Forum, scheduled for February 18-20 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha, Qatar, is shaping up to be quite an impressive event. Policymakers and opinion-shapers from the U.S. and more than 30 Muslim states and communities from around the world will engage in three days of meetings. We invite you to tour the website and learn more about the effort.
