Palestinians Murder Kidnapped Israeli Teen
A body found in the West Bank appears to be that of Eliyahu Asheri, 18, an Israeli abducted by Palestinian militants last weekend, Israeli security sources said Thursday.
An End to Ambiguity If terror consists of randomly killing and maiming non-combatant civilians for the purpose of sowing fear and insecurity, Sunday's raid on an Israeli military post, carried out by the military wing of Hamas, was the antithesis: A well-planned and well-executed attack on a strictly military target that was chosen long in advance - an act of war. The Palestinian organizations have wanted to kill civilians rather than soldiers because this is precisely the message they have wished to deliver - namely, that their enemy is not specifically the Israeli "occupation," nor even the Israeli army, but the entire Jewish population of Israel.
Iran rejects G8 deadline for nuke talks in July UNITED NATIONS - Irans foreign minister on Thursday rejected demands from the seven major industrialized nations and Russia to respond by next week to an international offer to bargain over Tehrans disputed nuclear program.
Wary of U.S., Syria and Iran Strengthen Ties For a long time, the top-selling poster in Hassan al-Sheikh's gift shop in Syria showed President Bashar al-Assad of Syria seated beside the leader of Hizballah in Lebanon. A few weeks ago a different poster overtook it, with the Syrian president, the Hizballah leader, and Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Sheikh's shop is beside the entrance to a Shiite shrine packed with Iranian pilgrims, many more than in years past. Iran and Syria are tightening relations on several fronts as power in the region shifts away from the once-dominant Sunni to Shiites, led by Iran.
Christians Still "Swine" and Jews "Apes" in Saudi Schools Freedom House, a non-partisan American research group which monitors civil rights worldwide, has found that despite promises of change from leading Saudi officials, schoolbooks in the kingdom still promote hatred of those who do not practice its strict form of Wahhabi Islam. The report quotes the following exercise for the youngest children: "Fill in the blanks with the appropriate words (Islam, hellfire): Every religion other than --- is false.
Whoever dies outside of Islam enters ---."
