About our Launch:

Palestine Chronicle Online Newspaper Launches Most Innovative Edition
Coincides with Third Anniversary of Intifada

SEATTLE (September 29, 2003) - The online newspaper the Palestine Chronicle (www.palestinechronicle.com) has just re-launched with the most updated, user-friendly and professional edition yet.

The four-years since the original launch of the online publication witnessed the re-launch of the Palestine Chronicle twice. This time, the site’s editors say is by far the most rewarding and innovative.

"The idea was not simply to dress the old site with new cloths," Suzanne Russ, the Palestine Chronicle’s Managing Editor said. "This time the re-launch came after months of research aimed at finding the most efficient presentation of our news to our target audience, which experiencing tremendous growth."

Much has changed since the Chronicle was launched a few years back. Now, the new Palestine Chronicle has evolved into a daily source of news covering issues dealing with the Middle East, yet focusing on Palestine and the Arab-Israeli conflict. The Chronicle has also extended its coverage to World News, with a greater focus on US foreign policy, "war on terror" and the anti-war movement.

"Our news coverage is diverse and so is our audience. However, the diversity by no means indicates a lack of focus," Ramzy Baroud, the Palestine Chronicle’s editor-in-chief said. "’Palestine remains the issue’, however, one can hardly deny the international scope to the Palestinian question."

Today, the new chronicle launches with a few links under the main heading, all of websites that are part of this growing project. A forum, an extensive photo gallery, a gift shop are some of the additions to the project. Also, there is Searching Jenin (www.searchingjenin.com) a website dedicated to a book described by Israeli scholar Ilan Pappe as the most authoritative document produced to detail the atrocities carried out by the Israeli army in Jenin in April 2002. The book was edited by Baroud and his Chronicle team and published by Cune Press.

"Despite all of the setbacks, one cannot deny that the Chronicle has been an exciting and greatly rewarding project," Baroud said. "We had limited funds, nonetheless we continue to grow and expand," he added. "The support and an ending encouragement we receive everyday is certainly a main reason that keeps us going."

The new site’s design is engineered by Bilal Chaudhry, a brilliant Canadian webmaster whose contributions are also visible in other projects related to the Chronicle.

"The Palestine Chronicle is an evolving project," Chaudhry said. "This is our 3rd edition, and we hope that with every edition we approach our medium with new and better access for our dedicated readership. We hope to add more tools and interactivity in the coming future to our site. Thank you for inspiring our evolution."

"A big thank you to everyone that stood by us during all these years," Russ, the Managing Editor said.

"Please continue to support us, because you’re support is essential to the survival and growth of the Palestine Chronicle," Russ added. "You can also support us by visiting us regularly and recommending us to your friends and spreading the word about us."

The Palestine Chronicle is an independent initiative and is not associated with any political or religious group or organization. The site provides free ads to selected educational organizations and charities.
