Kodak and Cisco acquire Israeli companies:

1. Eastman-Kodak has acquired the Israel-Canada company, Creo, for $980MN in cash. Kodak also acquired Israel's Orex for $63MN (Jan. 2005), RealTime for $25MN (Jan. 2004), SDP for $250MN (Jan. 2004), AlgoTek for $42MN (Nov. 2003) and PictureVision for $90MN in Jan. 2001 (Globes, Feb. 1, 2005).

2. The Bronfman Consortium has acquired 26% of Discount Bank - from the Israeli government - for $300MN (Globes Business Daily, Jan. 20, 2005).

3. The Hong-Kong Hutchison has acquired 18% of Israel's Partner (cellular service provider) for $230MN (Feb. 9).

4. The US-based $2.8BN Agere (formerly, micro-electronic division of Lucent) is acquiring Israel's ModemArt for $150MN (Feb. 10).

5. Jan. 2004 - Jan. 2005 acquisitions of Israeli companies: ModemArt by Agere ($150MN, 2.05), SabreTek by Software AG ($12MN, 1.05), VirtualLocality by SAP ($0.5MN, 1.05), MDRM by Sundisk ($15MN, 1.05), TeleKnowledge by MTS ($3MN, 12.04), Art by ScanSoft ($26.5MN, 11.04), PhoneticSystems by ScanSoft ($80MN, 11.05), P-Qube by Cisco ($200MN, 8.04), A2i by SAP ($20MN, 7.04), Actona by Cisco ($100MN, 6.04), M-Stream by BroadCom ($8.6MN, 6.04), Magnifire by F-5 ($29MN, 6.04), ExtendNetworks by Vayo ($19MN, 5.04), Epilog by Mercury ($49MN, 5.04), Anvera by Intel ($40MN, 3.04), RiverHead by Cisco ($39MN, 3.04) and RealTime by Kodak for $25MN in 1.04 (Globes, Feb. 10, 2005).

6. $92MN were raised by Israel's Protarom at the London Stock Exchange (Globes, Feb. 4).

7. A 59% growth in VC investments in Israel during 2004 ($1.2BN) compared with 2003 ($770MN), with a $4MN average investment in 2004 compared with a $2.7MN average in 2003 (PWC's Money Tree, Globes, Feb.8).

8. Apex Partners has led ($10MN) a $20MN 4th round of private placement by Digital Fuel, joined by Benchmark Capital and other investors, who participated in previous rounds (Globes, Feb. 3). Cannan Partners has led a $12MN 3rd round by Mobilitec, along with Duchossois, AIG Orion and Lucent Venture (Globes, Feb. 8). Singapore's TransPac VC Fund participated in a $4MN round by ElamEl Industries (Globes, Feb. 8). Silicon Valley's Greylock led a $10MN 4th round by RadBend (Globes, Feb. 4). Holland's Docor VC Fund participated in a $6MN round by NST (Jan. 27).
