This October, Eventica is organising a new one-day event in Moscow in cooperation with RIO Centre, featuring the participation of Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Minister for Information Technologies and Communications Leonid Reiman.
Today, Russia faces challenges that will determine success or failure for generations to come. Knowledge, information and education are the keys to the future prosperity and productivity of the Russian economy. Rising oil prices have played an undeniable part in Russias historic economic recovery, but in order to create a secure foundation for consistent and sustainable growth, and to compete in the global marketplace, Russia must once again become a world leader in the innovation and technology sectors for which it has traditionally been so famous in the past, while also working to increase efficiency in important industries such as energy.
Knowledge, Technology and the New Economy will look at these and other critical questions. The programme will feature personalities who are driving innovation in Russia, as well as representatives of leading international organisations.
In addition to Mr. Medvedev and Mr. Reiman, other confirmed speakers include Clive Selley, Chief Information Officer (CIO), BT Wholesale; Sanjay Karla, President, Tech Mahindra; Mikhail Mishustin, Head, Russian Federal Real Estate Agency and Former Deputy Minister for Tax Collection; Yuri Zhdanov, Head, Russian Federal Agency for Special Economic Zones; Richard Halkett, Executive Director, Policy and Research, NESTA (British National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts); Igor Yurgens, Chairman of the Board, RIO Centre; Kjell Morten Johnsen, Head, Telenor Russia; Arkady Volozh, CEO, Yandex; Sriram Bharatam, CEO & Founder, Iridium Interactive Limited; Sergey Burkov, Head, Research and Development, Google; Aleksei Volin, President, Rodionov Publishing House and Dr. Carol S. Leonard, Fellow, St Antony's College Oxford.
The event will be highlighted by a business-to-business conference, but will be accompanied by other exciting elements that will break from the more predictable, linear scope of a typical conference agenda. An exhibition and other special features will give participants a unique and truly memorable experience.
Development of the New Economy has played a central role in Russias ambitious programme of National Projects. In his annual address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on 10 May 2006, President Vladimir Putin stressed the significance of this question: "Scientific and technological advantages are the defining factors for a countrys development (and) Russia must realise its full potential in the high technology sectors. Overall, what we need today is an innovative environment that will get new knowledge flowing."
