Dear friends:
The International Institute for Sustainable Development
and the United NationsEnvironment Programme
are pleased to announce the publication of the 2nd edition
of their popular "Environment and Trade: A Handbook." The handbook, first produced in 2001, was an unqualified success in its first edition, eventually being translated into French, Spanish, Russian and Mandarin. The new edition (for now only available in English) is completely updated, among other things featuring significant analysis of the WTOs Doha programme of work, new material on regional and bilateral agreements and a stronger emphasis on sustainable development issues. Like the first edition, this revision is aimed mainly at those with some knowledge about trade, environment or development, but not expert on the intersection of the three. It is also a practical reference tool for policy-makers and practitioners. But the target audience is not just government policy-makers; the media and public will also find it useful. The handbook uses clear language and a minimum of jargon. It can be found on the UNEP web site at: www.unep.ch/etb/publications/enviTrade.php, or on IISDnet at:
Both sites offer free downloads of the book and links for ordering hard copies. You have received this notice because you are subscribed to the IISD mailing list of trade and sustainable develoment announcements. Mailings to this list are infrequent, but we appreciate that some of you may not want to be sent such material. To be removed from the list at any time, simply let us know by return e-mail. Your comments and input on the book are welcome. Yours sincerely, Hussein Abaza, UNEP Aaron Cosbey, IISD Water Summit - June 16-18, 2006 - Chicago IL - CALL FOR PAPERS/PRESENTATTIONS
